Lake Placid High School National Honor Society and Student Government will be selling Christmas trees, wreaths and poinsettias. The sale will be open Monday -Thursday from 4 to 8 PM; Friday 4 to 9 PM; Saturday 9 AM to 9 PM and Sunday Noon to 6 PM. Proceeds provide scholarships and help defray the cost for students to attend conferences.
The Heartland Holiday Festival will take place in Historic Downtown Sebring through December 23rd. The Sebring Christmas Parade will be held Friday at 7 PM. First Baptist Church presents a Christmas Concert on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Come and enjoy festive music, holiday lights, visits with Santa Claus, games, live entertainment, shopping and much more. The area's largest Christmas lighting display can be seen at the Christmas Carousel of Lights located on the Circle in downtown Sebring through December 28th. Enjoy nightly visits with Santa, games, puppet show, and light show starting at 6 PM nightly. Admission is free.
STR8 UP Youth Ministry will hold a Huge Yard Sale December 5th through December 7th from 8 AM to 1 PM to raise funds for special projects and programs. The sale will be held at 113 South Main Avenue in Lake Placid.
The Rotary Club of Sebring will hold their annual Circle of Cans on Friday, December 6th from 7 AM to 2 PM. Rotarians will be on and around the Circle in Sebring collecting can goods and money to benefit the Salvation Army. For more information call Mary 385-8538.
The Lake Placid Garden Club is hosting its 3rd annual Home and Garden Tour on Friday, December 6th from 1 to 4 PM. Relax at the Cafe and Stuart Park where free refreshments are offered. Poinsettias will be on sale at the cafe. Tickets are $12.00 in advance or $15.00 on the day of the tour. For tickets or more information call Connie at 465-0487. The 3rd Annual George Davis Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, December 7th with an 8 AM Shotgun Start at River Greens Golf Course. The cost is $60.00 per person and proceeds benefit the River Greens Scholarship Fund. For more information call 453-5210.
Spring Lake United Methodist Church will host their Annual Craft Bazaar and Cookie Walk on Saturday, December 7th from 8 AM to 2 PM. The church is located at 8170 Cozumel Lane.
The Brad and Aaron Doty Memorial Children's Christmas Golf Classic will be held at Sun N Lake Golf and Country Club on Saturday, December 7th with a Shotgun start at 8:30 AM. Bill Jarrett Ford in Avon Park presents their Annual Santa Fly In on Saturday, December 7th. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive via helicopter at 10 AM. Bring your camera for pictures. Other activities will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM and include train rides, petting zoo, caricature artists drawings (registration required) refreshments and much more.
ABATE of Florida, Inc. 28th Annual Toy run will be held on Saturday, December 7th with line up at the Blue Crab Restaurant starting at 11 AM. The cost is $10.00 and donation of a new unwrapped toy. Tanglewood will host a Toys for Kids Dance to the music of Jay Smith on Saturday, December 7th from 7 to 10 PM. Donations will be accepted for abused children of Highlands County. Bring snacks and beverages to share. Admission is $4.00 for Tanglewood residents with badges and $6.00 for guests.
Sun N Lake of Sebring presents a Christmas Tree Sale and Holiday Jubilee to to benefit Habitat for Humanity on Sunday, December 8th. Start the morning with a Teddy Bear Breakfast with Santa at 8:30 or 10 AM. Seating is limited call to RSVP. Come back from noon to 6 PM for the Festival of Trees, Santa's Workshop, live entertainment and much more. The American Legion Post 25 presents Nashville Recording Artist, Kaeli Spurlock and Friends in a Country Christmas Musical Extravaganza on Friday, December 13th. Doors open at 6 PM. The American Legion Post 25 is located at 1490 US Highway 27 North in Lake Placid.
The Highlands County YMCA will host Christmas at the Y December 13th and 14th from 6 to 9 PM. Come visit Santa's Workshop, big slide, bounce houses, live entertainment, games and much more. The Lions Club of Sebring will host Breakfast with Santa at Dot's Restaurant on Saturday, December 14th from 8 AM to Noon. On December 14th, Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church, in cooperation with Champions for Children Foundation, will be showing "Last Ounce of Courage" at the Circle Theater. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted to benefit Champions for Children. Doors open at 6:30, the movie begins at 7 PM.
The Avon Park Breakfast Rotary and the Avon Park CRA present Music on the Mall on Saturday, January 25th at the Band Stand on Main Street from 5 to 8 PM. Bring your chair and come enjoy a night of fun and music by The Shannon Reed Band. Food and drinks will be available to purchase.
The Sebring Shrine Club on Rt. 17 North will host live bands every Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. Come enjoy eclectic sounds every week from vintage country, gospel, bluegrass and more. Donations are taken at the door to help support Children's Hospitals and Burn Centers.
