Avon Park High School is offering swimming lessons at their pool weekly from 9 AM to 12 PM Monday through Friday. The pool is open to the public Monday through Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 PM. The cost is $2.50 per swimmer. For more information call APHS at 452-4311.
The American Legion Post 25 of Lake Placid invites everyone to celebrate 4th of July with several exciting events. Friday, July 1st the Legion will host a fish and shrimp dinner from 5 to 7 PM with live music by Dan Patrick from 6 to 9 PM. On Saturday, July 2nd enjoy burgers from 11:30 to 1:30, Chips Ahoy at 1 PM, Texas Hold'em at 1:30 PM and live music by Tim's Legacy from 4 to 7 PM. Sunday, July 3rd begins at 2 PM with the honoring of Sheriff Susan Benton followed by indoor games, grilled ribs and chicken and live music by Buddy Canova from 4 to 7 PM. Monday, July 4th the Legion will serve picnic lunches from 2 to 4 PM with live music by the Red Neck Joe Band from 4 to 7 PM. Lake Placid's Fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 2nd at 9 PM over Lake June. The Sun N Lake Fireworks display will be held on Sunday, July 3rd at 9:30 PM behind the Island View Restaurant. Sebring's Fireworks display will be held on Monday, July 4th at 9 PM over Lake Jackson. Avon Park's Fireworks display will be held on Monday, July 4th at dark at Donaldson Park and over Lake Verona.
The Lake Placid Independence Day Celebration 2016 Firecracker Pageant presented by Wagon Wheel Design will be held on Saturday, July 2nd in Devane Park. The entry pageant deadline June 27th for girls ages 2 to 18. For more information call 699-1884 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Lake Placid's Independence Day Festival will be held on Saturday, July 2nd from 9 AM to 1 PM. The festival will include the Miss/Mr. Firecracker pageant for ages 2 to 18, cake walk, dunk tank, food, toy walk, cornhole and much more. The Lake Placid Fireworks display will be held at 9 PM at Lake June, also on Saturday, July 2nd.
The Sun N Lake Independence Day Celebration will be held on Sunday, July 3rd from 5 to 9:30 PM. The celebration includes live entertainment, inflatables, games, fireworks and much more! The cost is $3.00 with kids under 2 admitted free. All the fun and festivities will be held at Sun N Lake Golf Club and Island View Restaurant.
