Circle Theatre presents "Better Together Tuesday" a special family time while enjoying a movie and treats from the Sweet Shoppe. Adult tickets are $5.00 with kids under 18 admitted free. Show times are 1 and 7 PM. For a complete list of scheduled movies visit www.circletheatreevents.com

Cool off in the pool. Sebring, Lake Placid and Avon Park High School pools are open Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 PM. The cost is $2.50 per swimmer. Swimming lessons are also available at various times. For more information call SHS at 471-5500, LPHS at 699-5010 or APHS at 452-4311.

The 26th Annual Caladium Festival will be held in Lake Placid on Friday, July 29th through Sunday, July 31st with clowns, arts and craft booths, food, entertainment, ornamental trees, caladiums, bus tours and much more. The Dr. Tom McDonald Caladium Festival 5K Race will be held on Saturday, July 30th starting at 7:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 118 North Oak Avenue in Lake Placid. The Avon Park Youth Football and Cheer will host a Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 30th from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Martin Luther King Memorial Sports Complex. Come and enjoy bounce house and slide, relay races, games, pee-wee football at 3 PM and much more. Concession stand will be open. Admission is $2.00 per person. Proceeds will benefit the 2016-2017 season.

A "Compassion for Linda BBQ, Bake Sale and Raffle" will be held for Linda Marie Watson, who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, on Saturday, July 30th. The event will start at 11 AM on Main Street in Avon Park and will include chicken dinners, raffles, snow cones, bake sale and much more. The Jaycees of Lake Placid presents the Caladium Festival Dance featuring The Shannon Reed Band on Saturday, July 30th from 9 PM to 1 AM at the Elks Lodge. The lodge is located at 200 County Road 621 East in Lake Placid. Tickets are $10.00 and you must be 21 or older to attend.

A County-Wide School Supply and Food Drive will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 3 to 7 PM at the Highlands Today Office at 315 US Highway 27 North in Sebring. Help stuff the bus and tilt the trailer with school supplies and food to be donated to local families in need.

Heartland for Children will hold a Foster Parent Community Information Night on Wednesday, August 3rd from 6:15 to 7:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid. The Florida Department of Health in Highlands County will host a Back to School Fast Track Immunization Clinic with free back to school immunizations on Friday, August 5th from 8 AM to 4 PM.
