The 2016 NU-HOPE A.R.T.S. Exhibit will be held through Sunday, May 8th at the Lakeshore Mall. The exhibit, held in honor of National Older Americans Month, will highlight work by local seniors. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call Laurie at 382-2134.

"Wake Up America," a brief observance of National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 11 AM on the front Courthouse lawn. To ensure a seat and for your comfort please bring a lawn chair. For more information call 402-6567.

Heartland Triathlon presents a Mother's Day 5K  on Saturday, May 7th at 7:30 AM at Highlands Hammock State Park. To register or for more information visit www.imathlete.com

The Avon Park Correctional Institution will hold a One Day Plant and Tree Sale on Saturday, May 7th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Lunch will also be available to purchase. The correctional institution is located at the Avon Park Bombing Range. For more information call 452-8803.

The 3rd Annual Hardee County Health, Safety and Hurricane Expo will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Civic Center in Wauchula. Sebring Meals on Wheels will hold their 3rd Annual Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 7th from 4 to 8 PM at the Tanglewood Community Center. The National Association of Letter Carriers, other United State Postal Service employees and area volunteers will join together for nation's one-day food drive to "Stamp Out Hunger." Donations may be dropped off at the post office or place non-perishable food items in or around your mail box on Saturday, May 14th. Your donations will benefit those in need in our community.
